If it’s almost the beginning of summer, that means the renewable energy fair is around the corner.

The Midwest Renewable Energy Association hosts the energy fair every summer at the ReNew the Earth Institute in Custer, near Stevens Point.

This year’s fair runs Friday through Sunday. Keynote speakers at the 20th anniversary event include Wendy Williams, author of a book about the controversial proposal to place wind turbines off Cape Cod in Nantucket Sound.

The fair has hundreds of workshops designed to give people information on renewable energy, ways to cut energy costs. A popular feature in recent years, and back this year, is the “clean energy car show,” feature hybrid-electric and all-electric cars.

“Each year, this fair inspires thousands of people to live more sustainably, empowering them with the tools and information they need to make the jump from awareness and interest to action,” said Don Wichert, director of Focus on Energy’s renewable energy program. Focus, the statewide energy efficiency and renewable energy initiative, is a fair sponsor. (More via jsonline)
